IACTE LEGISLATIVE PLATFORM

 

 

 

1.       OPERATIONAL FUNDING

A.      Support legislation that increases Career and Technical Education (CTE) funding.

 

 

2.       CAPTIAL FUNDING

A.      Support legislation that allows access of construction, renovation and maintenance dollars for Area Career Centers.

B.       Support legislation that provides additional dollars for equipment for CTE programs.

 

3.       TEACHER REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATION

A..     Support legislation that promotes the retention of provisional vocational and temporary provisional vocational certification.

B.      Support legislation that enhances the status of CTE teachers holding provisional certification.

C.      Support legislation that promotes continuing professional development of CTE teachers.

 

4.       STUDENT PREPARATION

A.      Support legislation that promotes graduation requirements that includes Career and Technical Education skills.

B.      Support legislation that promotes CTE programs and curriculum.

C.      Support legislation that enhances CTE opportunities for students.

 

5.       TEACHER BENEFITS

A.      Support legislation and organizations that work to improve educator’s pensions and benefits.

 

6.       OTHER

A.      The Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education reserves the right to respond to any other legislation not covered in this document that impacts Career and Technical Education.

 

 

 The ICTA Board met on October 17, 2007 and reviewed the IACTE Legislative Platform.   The Board adopted the Platform with minor changes and will present the IACTE Platform with these changes to the ICTA membership at the next membership meeting in June 2008.
