The What, Why, How, and Who of ICTA Membership

What is ICTA?  The Illinois Career and Technical Administrators is a professional organization of career and technical education administrators designed to promote the interests of those with major responsibilities in the administration of secondary and post-secondary schools and CTE programs. ICTA is affiliated with the Illinois Association for Career and Technical Education/ACTE and the National Council of Local Administrators of Career and Technical Education.  ICTA is committed to facilitating effective career and technical education programs.

Why become a member?
The purpose of ICTA is to actively participate in the promotion, development and implementation of career and technical education.  Membership in ICTA has numerous benefits including:

  • access to relevant workshops providing administrator academy credit
  • opportunity to network with other career and technical education professionals
  • advocate for career and technical education programs throughout the state
  • influence development, delivery, and promotion of CTE programs with policymakers
  • opportunity to participate in conferences and learn up-to-date information about CTE

How do you become a member?  The cost of membership dues for a year in ICTA is $70 per year, plus $60 membership in the Illinois Association for Career and Technical Educators (IACTE).  Below is the link to IACTE.

Who should become a member of ICTA?  Any educational administrator in Illinois who has responsibility for programs and/or services related to career and technical education in Illinois including:

  • Career Development System Directors
  • Directors/Coordinators of Partnership for College and Career Success (PCCS)
  • Area Career Center Administrators
  • High School CTE Directors
  • Principals with CTE Responsibilities
  • Community College Instructional Deans/Occupational Program Supervisors
  • University Level Career and Technical Administrators
  • State Board of Education Staff
